Speak what you think today in hard words and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said today.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance: An Excerpt from Collected Essays, First Series
The second-guessing is honestly a complete waste of time.
You know that.
But you fall victim to it every day.
You can’t seem to let go of the little things. You play over conversations in your mind. Continually. Some that have already happened, some that will never happen.
Allow your true self a seat at the table.
Allow your authentic self to flow forth.
Allow your voice to come through naturally.
How would it feel to operate from flow?
How would it feel to let the insecurities drop off?
How would it feel to let doubt fall away?
You need to step into your power.
You need to claim it.
How?
Choice.
You get to decide today how you are going to show up.
To get to decide today what sort of energy you’re going to step into.
You get to decide today how you walk through the door
You get to decide today to put the nonsense to the side.
To get to decide today to get off of the hamster wheel.
You get to decide today to get off of the merry-go-round.
You get to decide today that you’re done with the rollercoaster, yo-yo, spin-cycle.
No more.
But Shannon, I’ve been trying to stop for years and just can’t.
No.
No more.
It’s an intention you get to CHOOSE.
It’s a posture you get to CHOOSE.
It’s a decision you get to make.
I’m not saying it’s easy.
But it IS simple.
Decide that you get to live differently than you have been.
Decide that you deserve more.
Decide you are BOLD.
And POWERFUL.
And when we fall out of the posture?
We bring it back.
And when we fall out of the focus?
We bring it back.
And when we start amping ourselves up again?
We bring it back.
We return to the intention again and again.
We return to the choice.
We return to the here and now.
We return to the breath.
This moment.
This decision.
This intention.
I will DECIDE to set the crazy-making to the side.
I will DECIDE that I deserve some peace in my own mind
I will DECIDE to be kind to myself.
I will DECIDE to go to sleep and stop with the mental torture.
I will DECIDE that is good enough the way it is.
I will DECIDE that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay!
I will DECIDE that business gets to feel fun, and freeing, and expansive.
I will DECIDE that if relationships don’t nourish and sustain me that they can be reframed.
I will decide to stop bullying myself.
I will decide to stop telling myself lies.
I will decide to stop yelling and screaming at myself in my own mind.
I opt for peace.
I opt for serenity.
I opt for calm.
Choice. Decision. Intention.
Not easy, but simple.
Decide today.
You deserve good things.
Here’s to a life well lived.
